I started Courtness Photography in 2010 when the insatiable need to take photos of my two kids spiraled out of control. I'm mostly self-taught, but 15 years of practice makes...well, no one's perfect, but I strive to be constantly improving.
Photographing people takes not just artistic and technical skill--composition, exposure, etc.--but an ability to put them at ease, which makes the experience more enjoyable and can be the difference between good and great photos.
For the photo tech nerds: I usually shoot with a Canon R5 and/or a Canon 5D Mark IV. I love my Canon 85mm f/2 and 50mm f/1.8 lenses for the R5 and the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L II for the 5D Mark IV. I've got other lenses and cameras that I sometimes bring out for fun or events, but these are my go-tos. I generally shoot outdoors and rely on natural light, rarely using flash except for indoor and night time events.
